MYSTERIOUS SHOT
MAN WOUNDED IN KNEE INCIDENT AT NIGHT (By Telegraph.—Pre?? Association) BLENHEIM, Monday A mysterious wounding in the knee of a farm employee, Mr Ivor John Boon, aged 27, occurred in the Rai Valley, 40 miles from Blenheim, on Friday night. Mr Boon was struck in the back of the left leg by a bul- j let which penetrated the knee. He | had paid a short call to friends, Mr i and Mrs Peter Anderson and their ' family, and was walking toward his motor-car when he was wounded. It was a stormy night and neither the victim nor the Andersons heard a shot. Mr Boon iell helpless to the ground. It was some time before his cries for help were heard inside the house, which is in an isolated locality. The police are attempting to establish whether the attack was malicious or whether the wounding was an ac- j cidental result of nocturnal deerstalking in the surrounding hills. Mr Boon was progressing satisfactorily this morning in the public hospital.
