HAYFIELD FATALITY
EVIDENCE DESCRIBES ACCIDENT An inquest into the death of Gordon Joseph Drabble, farmer, aged 25, of Tahuna Road, Morrinsville, who died in the Waikato Hospital on March 6 following a fall from a haystack, was concluded before the coroner, Mr W. H. Freeman, S.M., today. Evidence was previously given that Drabble was helping his father, Mr W. J. Drabble, to build a haystack at Tatuanui on December 11. The wire rope of the hay grab slipped off the pulley and jammed. This jerked the pulley arm away from the stacker pole and the arm fell, striking Drabble on the head. He was knocked off the stack and as he fell to the ground he struck | the back of his head on .the hardwood base of the stacker. Medical evidence was given today that Drabble suffered from a fractured spine. A verdict of accidental death was returned.
