FRUIT AND PRODUCE
PRICES AT LOCAL MARKE Popular lines of fruit and produce being in short supply at present, prices on the local markets have shown a tendency to improve. To-
day’s quotations include tomatoes at 5s to 10s a case, the latter price being for best quality, which wue in short supply. A small consignment of apricots made 13s 6d to 15s 6d a case; Gravenstein apples 8s to 10s, Dunn’s and Ballarats 8s to 10s; hothouse grapes Is 9d to 2s a lb., with a firm demand; peaches, 7s 6d to 10; a case, plums 6s 6d to 8s Bd, Bon Cretien pears 10s to 14s, Packham . Triumph pears 12s 6d. Lemon were scarce, and oranges unprocur able. Ripe bananas were sold i up to 30s a case, and supplies limited.
Potatoes found buyers at 15s to 16s a sack, onions 7s to 7s 6d a bag, cauliflowers 8s to 10s 6d, cabbages 5s to 8s 6d, peas 12s to 13s 6d, lettuce 4s to 7s 6d a case, carrots 6s to 7s 6d a bag, parsnips 10s a bag, cucumbers Is 6d to 2s a dozen, and beetroot 2s a dozen.
