TOWN FLOODED

CONCRETE BANKS BROKEN (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WESTPORT, Wednesday A sudden deluge at the back of Millerton last night was responsible ior considerable damage to the reservoir, roads and bridges. Operations had to be suspended in the main section of the Millerton coal mine. It is hoped, however, to place the miners involved in another section,

and by working three shifts to keep up the output until normal operations are resumed.

Large tree trunks carried down by the flood waters broke the concrete banks of the dams and the flood went through the main part of the town. The rush of water damaged the pillars of the concrete bridge near the library and also another bridge. The water entered a shop and damaged the walls but Millerton residences were well above the flood. Logs, boulders and silt rushed down the Granity Creek and piled up against a bridge near the Granity bins. Low-lying ground was flooded and damage was done in several residences. *
