OUTPUT IN AMERICA (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyrignt; WASHINGTON, Dec. 9 At a press conference, President Roosevelt said the Administration hoped to expedite the production of war equipment so that there would be many more actual deliveries next year than had lately been contemplated. New plants and additions to existing plants will be expedited. The increase in output will also involve a seven-day working week Mr Roosevelt said he was considering calling a conference of labour leaders to formulate a voluntary plan for the elimination of strikes in the defence industries.
The Vice-President, Mr Henry A. Wallace, announces that Mr Roosevelt has approved a victory programme which may cost £27.500,000,000.
