PLUNKET MEETING

BUILDING FUND STARTED The monthly meeting of the Hamilton branch of the Plunket Society was held recently. The president, Mrs N. E. Blomfield, was in the chair an dwelcomed the newly appointed secretary, Mr Howie. The nurses’ reports were as follows: Hamilton, visits to rooms, adults 322, babies 816, pre-school children 28, total 1666. Frankton sub-branch, adults 209. babies 207, pre-school children 8, total 424. Tc Mata sub-branch, adults 10. babies 169, pre-school children 28, total 387. Ragian sub-branch, adults 14, babies 14, total 28. Te Mata sub-committee, adults 10, babies 11, total 21. This month Miss Longden visited the Karapiro camp (hydro electric) for the first time. The new ambulance rooms were put at her disposal and eight mothers were interviewed. This centre will be visited regularly in future. Mrs Ewart Brown, president of the Frankton sub-branch, reported on the results of the baby carnival conducted by the Frankton committee. £BO was thus raised and Mrs Blomfield | congratulated the Frankton commit- ! tee and mothers on their splendid | work. Dewhurst was elect- ; ed to the Hamilton committee. 1 The following sub-committee for the purpose of purchasing wool to ! make garments for the Winter Show stall was formed:—Mesdames Noel Johnson, F. J. Beehan and I. D. Jack. Mention was made of those articles most saleable. It was decided that the money raised in a recent raffle be used to start a building fund with the immediate objective of £2OO, the estimated cost of necessary extensions for the preschool child section. The meeting was concluded by Mrs Blomfield wishing the committee the compliments of the season.
