KILLED IN ACTION
PRIVATE C. V. VIALL Included in the list of soldiers killed in action is Private Samuel Victor Viall, aged 21, of Hamilton. Private Viall, who was the eldest son of Mr and Mrs C. A Viall, of Edgecumbe Street, was born at Whangarei and educated at Takapuna. He was a member of the Waikato Battalion Band for five years. Before going overseas as a driver-mechanic, Private Viall was employed in Hamilton as a motormechanic. GUNNER J. M. ROGERS Gimner Joseph Max Rogers, reported killed in action, was the youngest son oi Mr Leon Rogers, farm manager at the Tokanui Mental Hospital, near Te Awamutu. Born at Stratford in 1914, Gunner Rogers was educated at Te Mawhai and Te Awamutu. He was employed at the Avondale Mental Hospital when he volunteered for active service. He had been overseas for nearly two years. He leaves a wife and an infant son. WAR PRISONERS A card from his son. Private J. L. Lee. stating that he was in good health and a prisoner of war, has been received by Mr D. G. Lee. of Auckland. Reported missing after the Greek campaign, no further news had been heard of Private Lee. who was employed in Hamilton before going overseas.
