LAKE RESCUE
YOUNG SWIMMER GIRL IN DIFFICULTIES IN STATE OF COLLAPSE Prompt action on the part of a 16-year-old boy, Graham Grant, son of Mr and Mrs R. V. Grant, of Moa Crescent, was responsible for the rescue of a schoolgirl from the Hamilton Lake at about 7.30 last evening. On seeing the girl, Dawn Lovell, aged about 15 years, a visitor to Hamilton, obviously in difficulties about 200 yards from the pier, the youth swam to assist her. She was in a state of collapse when he reached her. When the shore was reached artificial respiration was applied for 20 minutes and the girl was removed to the Waikato Hospital. Her condition today was much improved. The boy who effected the rescue is a promising Hamilton swimmer, who last year won the junior river race.
