SCOPE OF FREE SUPPLIES WELLINGTON, Friday Prescriptions embodying drugs other than those included in the British pharmacopoeia should be made available free of charge to the public, said the Leader of the Opposition, Mr S. G. Holland, during consideration of the social security estimates in the House of Representatives today. Mr Holland said it was pot a patient’s fault if his doctor prescribed for him drugs not included on the free list; moreover, he was having to pay twiqe because he had to find an equal amount in tax and then pay for his medicine as well. Six classes of departmental votes were passed by the House today. The votes approved were: Internal Affairs Department, £496,500; Social Security Department, £5,670,947, includirtg £3,605,910 for Social Security Fund; Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, £183,200; Department of Industries and Commerce, £801,400; Iron and Steel Industry Account, £8000; the total was £7,160,047. So far 47 classes of estimates have been passed, involving £31,634,096. The House adjourned until Wednesday.
