WORK COMMENCED

HUT AT HOPU HOPU RECREATIONAL FACILITIES Work on the construction of a social hut at the Hopu Hopu military camp was commenced yesterday, and it is hoped that by the time the camp is required again for the training of large numbers of troops the new building will be ready for occupation. With a floor space of 4152 square feet the hut, which is being constructed in wood, is similar to the recreation huts already built at Papakura and Trentham and will contain all the necessary facilities to provide adequate comforts for the troops. The chairman of the Waikato Patriotic Zone, Mr H. D. Caro, said today that h/3 had received advice from Wellington that the National Patriotic Board had approved of the building of the hut. He was pleased that after so much negotiation work on the building had actually commenced, and that it would not be long before men training at Hopu Hopu would be provided with comfortable recreational facilities.
