PILOT CHOSEN
HAMILTON’S SPITFIRE MACHINE FROM FUNDS RAISED FIGHTER SQUADRON FORMED Advice has been received by Mrs E. A. Cox, of Wellington Street, Hamilton East, that her son, Sergeant-Pilot K. D. Cox, of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, has been chosen to fly the Spitfire machine which was purchased by funds subscribed in Hamilton last year for the Fighter Fund. The machine will be christened “Hamilton,” and will be attached to the s*quadron of the New Zealandbought fighters. The pilots who fly these planes will be distinguished by New Zealand’s emblem, a silver fern-leaf, which is to be worn beneath their “wings.” The squadron will be commanded by a New Zealand officer.
