Miner Injured.
Concussion was suffered this morning by Mr Joseph Barber, oi Horotiu, a miner, employed at Glen Afton Colleries, when he struck his head on an overhead beam when he was walking into the mine. He was taken to the Waikato Hospital in a St, John Ambulance. His condition is satisfactory. Tax Instalments An instalment of the social security charge and national security tax on income other than salary or wages derived during the year ended March 1, 1940. fell due this month, and tomorrow is the last day of payment. In the case of taxpayers who have paid social security charge in full, but who have not yet made any payment on account of national security tax. attention is drawn to the liability in resnect of the latter tax. The total national security tax payable is an amount equal to threequarters of the social security charge. A quarterly instalment, (ss) of the social security registration fee is also due this month. Income tax must also be paid before March 5 to avoid penalties.
