OBITUARY
MR EDWARD DEWHURST FORMER TENNIS CHAMPION (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Feb. 27, 3.15 p.m.) PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 26 The death is announced of Mr Edward Dewhurst, who was tennis cnampion in 1895. PROFESSOR A. R. ACHESON (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) NEW YORK, Feb. 25 The death has occurred of Professor Albert Robert Acheson, head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Syracuse University, and formerly of New Zealand, aged 58 years. Born at Riverton, Professor Acheson was in the service of the Railway Department and the Westinghouse Air Brake Company at Addington. He left in 1906 to join the Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Company at Pittsburgh, and two years later, at the age of 26. was appointed to the post he held until his death. MR CHARLES RAYNER The death occurred recently of Mr Charles Rayner, of Paterangi Road, Ohaupo, at the age of 73 years. Mr Rayner was born at Blenheim, and his twin sister, Miss Clara Rayner, also Mrs S. Connolly and Mrs T. B. Salmon still reside there. The third son of the late Mr Joseph Rayner, a pioneer Marlborough settler, Mr Charles Rayner left Blenheim just over 40 years ago and settled in the Waikato, marrying Miss Mary Gleye, of Ohaupo. They resided in the district up to the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, one son and one daughter.
