WELCOME HOME
RETURN FROM MIDDLE EAST An enjoyable evening was tendered by the Ngaruawahia branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association in the Returned Soldiers’ Association Hall recently, to Captain J. Foster, who has returned home from the Middle East. The evening was spent in dancing, and competitions, music being supplied by Mrs A. Sutherland, Miss Thrupp and Mr J. Foster. A competition was won by Mrs R. P. Knight and Miss Muriel Knight. , During the evening opportunity was taken by the president, Mr K. M. Wright, to extend a welcome on behalf of all the members to Captain Foster. Others speakers were Mr C. Morris, secretary of the Waikato Returned Soldiers’ Association, Lieu-tenant-Colonel T. Paterson, Messrs R. P. Knight and Gawkrodger. Captain Foster suitably responded. Among those present were:—Mesdames J. Foster, A. Sutherland, T. Paterson, R. Fuller, R. Hillcoat, P. Kay, R. Knighton, J. Mclnnerney, R. P. Knight, R. McFarlane, F. Jackson, C. McCowan, H. Morris, McPherson, B. Bunn, A. W. Speirs, H. Pickering, Fransham (Taupiri), A. Menzies, J. Evans, Gawkrodger. Misses Foster, W. Paterson, Thrupp, M. Hughes (Auckland), M. Knight, P. Menzies, T. Menzies, M. Menzies.
