SEVERE IMPACT

CAR STRIKES TRAIN OCCUPANTS’ SERIOUS INJURIES When the car in which they were travelling came into collision with the 6 p.m. Frankton-Te Aroha train at the crossing at Herriesville, Te Aroha, last evening, Mr William Readhead, aged 55, a farmer, of Eastport Road, Waihou, and his 13-year-old son, Barry, suffered serious head injuries. They were conveyed to the Waikato Hospital. So severe was the impact that the car was carried along the line about 60 yards. The condition of the victims was reported to-day as very serious.

This was the second accident at the crossing in two days. On Monday a car driven by Mr R. Pond, of Matamata, collided with a train. Mr Pond was unhurt, however.
