VALUABLE COLLECTION SHOWN PHILATELIC SOCIETY The February meeting of the Hamilton Philatelic Society was held on Monday night in the Y.M.C.A., the president, Mr H. B. Hill, occupying the chair. It was decided to hold future meetings on the first Monday ;.f each month. Mr Brewerton announced that bulk supplies of the Id and 9d Centennial stamps were now exhausted in Wellington and consequently these would shortly be off sale. Members were also reminded that health stamps were to be withdrawn from sale at the end of this month. A member, Mr Welham, was placed on the honorary membership list, being on active service. On behalf of a friend, Mr Hill displayed an extremely valuable mint collection of British stamps, the catalogue value being between £3OOO and £4OOO. Included among the • gems” were Kenya Uganda 98-100, 107-109, the last being a beautiful £IOO lace value mint (numbers irom Stanley Gibbons catalogue), also a perfect copy of Cape of Good Hope No. 13 Id vermillion mint and complete George V. and VI. issues of the Empire. The collection was notable in that every set was complete and the annotation left nothing to be desired. Members later discussed the present stamp restrictions.
