EXPORT OF STAMPS
PROTEST NOT SUPPORTED PHILATELIC SOCIETY There was a good attendance at the monthly meeting of the Waikato Philatelic Society last night, Mr M. C. Gudex presiding in the absence of Dr. W. R. Fea. A protest was before the meeting from the Christchurch Philatelic Society against the regulations prohibiting the export of stamps. After consideration it was.resolved not to support the protest, the society considering that the matter would best be left to the Philatelic Society of New Zealand for any action necessary. Pleasure was expressed at the formation of a junior branch and seven names * were immediately handed in for membership. Donations toward the Runnerstrum Scholarship album collection were made by Messrs Runnerstrum, Blomfield, Agnew, Goodwin, Gudex and Mrs Waters. Mr Edsall gave an address on forgeries in stamps and showed some illustrations. The secretary’s competition was won by Mr Gudex, Mr Jas. Hammond securing the junior prize. Several sales of stamps were made. An interesting collection of New Zealand full-faces caused favourable comment, the stamps being in excellent order and well displayed. A collection of Austrian stamps was also shown, the possessor having some of the earliest issues.
