CARNIVAL DANCE EXECUTIVE OF Y.W.C.A. NURSES’ QUEEN BENEFITS The executive of the Y.W.C.A. were hostesses at a very successful bridge party and dance on Saturday night in the gymnasium in aid of the nurses’ queen, patriotic fund appeal. The gymnasium supper room and bridge lounge, were artistically decorated with autumn-tinted Iceland poppies and greenery. Mrs H. H. Toombs, president of the Y.W.C.A., wearing black taffeta and a lily-of-the-valley spray, received the guests. Miss S. I. Ryburn, nurses’ queen, was wearing a delphinium blue beaded frock, and Miss D. Menzies, lady superintendent of the Waikato Hospital, floral georgette. Mr F. Findlay, member of the Y.M.C.A. Board of Directors, introduced Miss Menzies and Miss Ryburn. Miss Menzies then thanked the Y.W.C.A. executive for their wonderful effort on behalf of the nurses’ queen. Excellent music was provided by Mrs Ruff and party. Supper extras were played by Messrs N. Swinburn and A. Matthews. The success of the evening was in a large measure due to the efforts of the following committee: —Mesdames J. R. Fow, 11. E. Jacka, E. Wallace, H. Luxford, F. Herbert, L.
