DURING AIR RAIDS

ADVICE TO MOTHERS British parents were advised recently through the British Broadcasting Corporation of ways of looking after children confined, underground during air raids. Some of the advice given is as follows: “Children are apt to suffer from nervous sickness. One way of preventing this is to tie a warm scarf around children’s stomachs. “Just a word to mothers of babies —make a 24-hcur feed in the morning and keep it ready to take down at a moment’s notice. “You must keep children warm, especially their feet, so see that their stoutest shoes and warmest stockings are ready. “Have toys and games in the shelter for children and just in case they are sick it is wise to keep a supply of paper bags handy. “Keep a vacuum bottle full of something hot because for shock cases it is the heat as much as the drink that does the trick. “Have oranges, chocolate, and figs in shelters because eating them helps ward of sickness.”
