300 PEOPLE INJURED MANY reported missing DAMAGE 1,000,000 DOLLARS (United Press Asn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Sept. 14, 11 a.m.) MONTREAL, Sept. 13 As a result of the explosion at the Kenvil powder works 300 people are known to have been injured and many are missing. The damage is estimated at 1,000,000 dollars. President Roosevelt has requested the Red Cross to assist. The injured include children at a school a mile distant.
Aeroplanes flew to and fro, dropping fire-fighting chemicals. The rescuers dashed in and out of the flames, doing their best to carry out those who could be saved.
