WOMEN’S DIVISION
TE AWAMUTU BRANCH The monthly meeting of the Te Awamutu branch of the Women’s Division was held in the Parish Hall on Thursday, August 22, when Mrs Pattison presided over a good attendance of members. The provincial report was discussed and it was decided to repeat a prayer at the monthly meetings. Gifts from the branch of knitted comforts were given out to soldiers in several districts, these gifts being much appreciated. A fair in aid of welfare work is to be held in the Town Hall on Friday evening, August 30, and an appeal was made to members for gifts to the bran tub, bring and buy, sweets, and flower stalls. A fund for donation towards a bomber was opened. A most interesting talk by Miss Jamieson on the recent winter school held in Auckland was given. Mrs Mclntosh gave a short talk on the National Council of Women. Both speakers were accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Songs by Mrs Mathews were appreciated. Mrs Pattison read the prayer and the meeting concluded, with afternoon tea served by Ohaupo and Hairini members. Competitions resulted as follows: — Three wholemeal scones, Mrs Alf Kay 1, Mrs Sklenars 2; vase of six daffodils, Mrs Kay 1, Mrs Sifleet 2; flower, Mrs Grigg; fruit, Mrs Ryburn; vegetable, Miss Erna; shrub, Mrs Ryburn.
