THOMPSON—HOWARD ERIDE IN IVORY SATIN I | St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Weli lington. was the scene of a charming wedding on the evening of Satur- | day, August 10, when Williamina : Isobel, only daughter of Mr and Mrs | G. W. Howard, of Ngaio, WellingJ ton, was married to Bert Frederick, secor.il son of Mr and Mrs J. S. Thompson, of Frankton. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. T. F. Fagg and Mr S. B. Shortt presided at the organ. The church had been artistically arranged with arum , lilies and spring flowers. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a lovely gown of ivory slipper satin cut on slimfitting lines. The bodice was designi ed with a Peter Pan collar and long fitting sleeves tapering to points over the hands. Lace godets were inset | in the full panelled skirt, which fell into a graceful train embroidered ■ with orange blossom. Her tulle veil, j which was held to the head by a top-knot of roses, fell in soft folds

to tprm a second train. She carried a sheaf of arum lilies. The Attendants In attendance on the bride were Miss Marion Naim, of Otaki, Miss Peg Tulloch, of Ngaio, and Miss Edwina Thompson, sister of the bridegroom, as bridesmaids, and little Margaret Heatherwick was flowergirl. They were in similar frocks of cyclamen and green windswept chiffon over taffeta, fashioned with shirred bodices, puffed sleeves and full skirts. On their heads they wore top knots of cyclamen flowers and stiffened net, and they carried tinted lily sheaves to tone. Mr Jack Thompson, brother of the bridegroom, was the best man, and Mr George Davies, of Kopaki, was the groomsman. The ushers at the church were Messrs H. Heatherwick and A. Thompson. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Mayfair Cabaret, which was beautifully decorated with

Iceland poppies and anemones. The guests were received by Mrs Howard, who was wearing a navy ensemble of embossed cloque, with a toning hat and a shoulder spray of pink carnations. The mother of the bridegroom was in a frock of black figured georgette, a black hat and she wore a shoulder spray of crimson zinnias. Mrs A. Gill, grandmother of the bride, wore a black woollen ensemble, a black hat and furs. Her shoulder spray was composed of violets and freesias. When Mr and Mrs B. F. Thompson left by car for their honeymoon, the bride travelled in an Air Force blue tailored suit, a navy hat and navy accessories. They will make their home in Hamilton.
