CALEDONIAN SOCIETY
CAMBRIDGE OFFICERS ELECTED (Special to Times) CAMBRIDGE, Monday Mr W. Fisher presided over a good attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Cambridge Caledonian Society. Before commencing business the acting-Chief asked all to stand in silence as a mark of respect for the late Mrs Wallace. The balance-sheet showed the finances of the society to be in a good state, the year commencing with a credit balance of £B6 2s, and concluding with a credit of £47 4s 3d. Assets were shown at £165 18s 2d, and liabilities nil. This was regarded as highly satisfactory, especially as drums and their equipment had been purchased during the year. An interesting letter was read from the Chief, Mr J. C. Wallace, now on active service in Egypt, wishing the society every success. The election of officers resulted as follows: Chief, Mr J. C. Wallace; patrons, Messrs J. A. Wallace and W. A. Fisher; chieftains, Messrs G. A. Watt, T. H. Wallace and R. D. Fisher; secretary, Miss S. Wallace, treasurer, Mr J. Kerr; committee, Messrs H. Williams, J. Dunning, C. Wallace, B. Wallace, C. Bruce, S. D. Low, Burton and W. C. Wallace. Mr Edgar James was re-elected auditor. The wives of the committeemen, with the addition of Mrs H. Webb, were elected as the ladies’ committee. It was agreed that all members serving at home or abroad be regarded as financial members for the duration of the war. Mr Rogers (Hamilton) was made a presentation in recognition of his work as musical instructor. The society decided to forward a letter of appreciation to the previous secretary, Mr F. Kingsford, who is absent in camp.
