SATURDAY’S WEDDING
CHITTY—ENDEAN SIIfiVER EMBOSSED CREPE A charming wedding was solemnised at the Southwell Chapel, Hamilton, last Saturday afternoon, when Joan, youngest daughter of the late Mr and Mrs J. A. Endean, of Auckland, was married to Waiter Lynden, eldest son of Mr and Mrs G. de Vere Chitty, of Claudela'nds, Hamilton. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. P. C. S. Sergei. The chapel had been beautifully arranged by friends of the bride, with bowls of flowering cherry. The bride, who was given away by her uncle, Mr R. Main Hathaway, of Auckland, was wearing a lovely gown of white French crepe embossed with silver, cut on princess lines. She wore a necklet and bracelets of arum lilies and orange blossom, and carried an ivory prayer book. Her filmy veil of white tulle was held to the head by a top.-knot of arum lilies. Sisters as Matrons-of-honour The bride was attended by her sisters, Mrs B. W. Hilton and Mrs H. R. Fallwell, as matrons-of-honour. They were in similar frocks of apple green and cyclamen respectively, designed with shirred waistbands and full skirts. Muffs of toning flowers were carried. The best man was Mr Robert Chitty and Mr B. W. Hilton was the groomsman. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the bride’s sister, Mrs B. W. Hilton in Stanley Street, Claudelands, where the rooms were charmingly decorated with Iceland poppies. The guests were received by Mrs R. Main Hathaway, aunt of the bride, who was wearing a black satin frock and an ermine stole. When Mr and Mrs W. L. Chitty left by car for the wedding trip, the bride travelled in a pepper-and-salt tweed tailored suit, a Fair Isle sweater and a champagne felt hat. They will make their home in Hamilton.
