CLARION CALL SCHOOLED ACTIVITY AT TRENTHAM TE RAPA HORSES ON SCENE (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Thursday Clarion Call gave a masterly display over the fences on the course proper at Trentham to-day. His jockey, A. Jenkins, was in the saddle. He went over the two board fences down the back, the top brush and another board fence, cantering round, then taking in a sod wall and the previous four jumps a second time, nine fences in all. Clarion Call was not ridden hard and he jumped in his brilliant style, especially at the top brush each time. Jenkins also schooled the hurdler Kincora, who gave a fair exhibition at a moderate pace. The Waikato jumpers British Isles and Midland were schooled by A. Curran. British Isles took the five fences on the course proper at hunting pace, but he showed himself proficient, and is likely to race well in heavy ground. Midland jumped four hurdles, doing his work well. Among the visiting horses worked were Jewelled Girdle, Hot Box and A Gold Spot, a stablemate of Jewelled Girdle. Sly Fox and Blonde Princess were both accepted in the Stewards’ and Whyte Handicap in error. Blonde Princess will run in the Stewards* Handicap and Sly Fox in the Whyte Handicap. White Rajah was scratched for the Whyte Handicap at 1.20 p.m. today. The time-table for the first day, Tuesday, of the Wellington meeting, is as follows: 11.27—Mariri Steeplechase. 12.6 —Woburn Handicap. 12.48—Vittoria Hurdles. 1.28 —Stewards’ Handicap. 2.7 —Wellington Steeplechase. 2.50 —Trentham Hurdles. 3.30 —Whyte Handicap. 3.30 —Whyte Handicap. 4.15 —Te Aro Handicap.
