PLEA FOR UNITY
NEW ZEALAND AND AUSTRALIA BROADCAST BY MINISTER MUST WIN THE WAR (United Press Assn. —Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received July 5, 3.15 p.m.) MELBOURNE, July 5 In a broadcast over the national network last night Mr D. G. Sullivan, New Zealand Minister of Supply, appealed for unity between Australia and New Zealand, and stressed the necessity of discarding thoughts of personal ambitions and concentrating on the war effort. He said: “There can be only one object—to win the war. Everything else must be swept aside.” The Argus featured a front-page interview with the Minister, appealing to the people to have one heart and one mind in their determination to bring the struggle to a victorious conclusion. The Minister has spent several days visiting munition works and factories producing war materials, and is deeply impressed by the speed with which production is being increased. The Minister expects to leave this week to continue negotiations in , Sydney and Canberra.
