SECRET SESSION
GOVERNMENT DECISION NEXT TUESDAY NIGHT ALTERED WAR SITUATION (By Telegrapn.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Friday Before the Budget debate was resumed in the House of Representatives which met at 10.30 this morning, the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, in a brief statement, said the Government had decided that in view of the alterations which had occurred in the international situation since the last secret session, it was advisable that members should again meet in secret session, so that individually and collectively they could review the situation as it confronted us today, and also review potential and possible developments. He proposed that the secret session should commence at 7.30 p.m. on Tuesday. There would be no limit as to the time the House would rise, but he indicated that he would make a statement on behalf of the Government outlining the position. There would be no necessity for long statements by other Ministers, who, however, would be available to supply any information required. As far as the form of debate was concerned, the objective would be to give members the fullest and freest opportunity for obtaining information or expressing their views.
