SUCCESSFUL BALL

MORRINSVILLE POLO CLUB WINNER OF QUEEN CARNIVAL A most successful function was held in the Physical Culture Hall, Morrinsville, on Monday evening, when the Morrinsville Polo Club held its annual ball. The decorations were both novel and artistic and great credit is due to an energetic committee. The stage had been transformed into an old world garden with masses of flowers arid iridescent butterflies poised above them. Along the footlights were large artificial water lilies and masses of wattle. Above the stage was a large diamante polo pony and player and underneath a large royal crown. In the body of the hall, j from a large suspended star, masses of streamers, balloons and coloured lights radiated to every point of the roof. A novel effect was obtained from large polo cartoons drawn on lir\en placed round the walls. As the proceeds are to be given for patriotic purposes a large red cross was suspended above the entrance under a draped flag. Splendid dance music was supplied by Theo Walters and his Personality Baud from the Metropole Cabaret. The host and hostess, Mr and Mrs L. P. Swarbrick, received the guests, Mrs Swarbrick wearing a frock of midnight blue embossed taffeta and a gold coat. Mr I. Harris and Mr C. V.
