Stephen has left New Plymouth and is now residing in Hamilton. Mrs I. Allan is in Hamilton as commentator to the fashion display of the New Zealand Wool Council. * * * * Word has been received that Miss Beatrice Fisher, who is at present in England, expects to return to New Zealand in November. Miss Edith Watson, C.V.0., C.8.E., one of Mr Winston Churchill’s new private secretaries, is no newcomer to No. 10 Downing Street. A discreet j woman, with organising ability and a gift for making friends, Miss Watson, who is a civil servant, qualifies for a salary of between £7OO and £940 a year. TAUPIRI Mrs J. D. Bruce is holidaying in the North. Mrs T. B. McDowall has returned from an extended trip to Wellington. Mrs J. I. Crawford is the guest of Mrs Littlewood. Mrs A. L. Button is visiting Auckland and is the guest of Mrs E. Shipton. Mrs F. L. Lovell, accompanied by her daughter, June, is visiting Whangarei for the Lovell—Robison wedding. OKOROIRE Mrs Ross, Devonport, has been the guest of Mrs T. W. Aickin at Tirau. Mrs J. Wilkinson is spending a week in Auckland. Mrs S. Buchanan, Waihi, is visiting Mrs Harwood. Mrs Lilah Harwood, Auckland, is a visitor to Okoroire. Miss Kathleen Petersen, of Auckland, is visiting her home at Okoroire. Mr A. A. Wright has returned to Devonport from a visit to Mrs G. Ring. Misses Nancy and Betty Parker arrived home this week from a tour of the North. Miss Dorothy Graham was the guest of Mrs J. Wilkinson over the week-end. Miss June McLaren has returned to Okoroire from two weeks’ holiday at Auckland where she was the guest of Mrs Black. MORRINSVILLE Mrs Ross, Paeroa, is visiting Morrinsville. Miss R. McKay is spending a holiday at Wanganui. Miss P. Surrey, Taranaki, is the guest of Mrs M. Jackson, Te Puninga. Mrs F. Tunnacliffe, North Auckland, is the guest of Mrs A. M. H. Welch, Te Puninga. Mrs Worrall and Mrs Crippen, Epsom, are staying with Mrs Meadows for a short holiday. ' Miss G. Cumberland, Wellington, is spending a holiday with her mother, Mrs Cumberland. Miss J. McP'adzen has left Morrinsville to take up a position in Auckland. TE AKAU • Mrs P. Kirk is in Auckland. Sister McLeod, Auckland, has been visiting Miss G. Phiiburn. Mrs H. Witterbotham, Auckland, is visiting her daughter, Mrs A. T. Mellsop. * * * * On Saturday evening a successful dance in aid of patriotic funds was held in the Te Akau Hall.
