WELLINGTON BEATS TARANAKI (By Telegrrapn.—Press Association) HAWERA, Wednesday By 23 points to 21 Wellington snatched victory from Taranaki in the last few minutes of play in the annual Rugby match at Hawera today. There was an attendance ot approximately 3000 spectators, who witnessed a sparkling display, although dominated for the most part by the forwards. Each side scored three tries, Taranaki converting three and Wellington one. Wellington added foulpenalty goals to Taranaki’s two. At the interval Taranaki led 16—9, this being increased in a few minutes to 21 —9. Thereafter, the home team failed to score, while Wellington crept up, first scoring a try which was converted, then two penalty goals in succession and finally, almost on the call of time, the winning try.
