BATHING FATALITY
MAN DROWNED IN RIVER (By Telegrarh.— Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sunday Getting into difficulties when he went to his sister’s aid, a Wellington man was drowned in the Hutt River at Maori Bank yesterday. The victim was: Mr James Gordon Holder, 16 Kilminster Avenue, Wellington. Mr Holder and his sister, Miss Miriam Holder, aged 17, and two other young people were bathing at Maori Bank. Miss Holder stepped into a deep hole and her brother went to her assistance and immediately got into difficulties himself. One of the other two managed to rescue the girl, but Mr Holder, who was apparently a poor swimmer, was drowned. The body was recovered in the afternoon by Constable F. J. Wil-liams,-of Upper Hutt. Miss Holder suffered from shock, but was able to return home after being attended by a doctor.
