THE RUSSIAN ATTACK RETREAT OF THE FINNS SECOND LINE OF DEFENCE (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Feb. 17, 11.30 a.m.) HELSINKI, Feb. 16 The Russian onslaught on the Karelian Isthmus continued to-day with undiminished ferocity on the Summa and Taibela sectors. The depth of the positions lost by the Finns is unknown, but it is stated that they are not regarded as part of the real Mannerheim Line. Thirty-four people were killed and 60 injured in air raids. Many fires are burning. STOCKHOLM, Feb. 16 The situation on the Carelian Ishmus jis reported to be serious. The Finns have retreated to their second line of defence and their counterattacks have been unsuccessful at all places. A communique from Helsinki admits that the Russians have penetrated the Finnish positions east of Summa, also at two points between the Muola and Vuok Lakes.
