SERVICE IN THE NAVY
NO FURTHER APPLICATIONS AMPLE NUMBERS AVAILABLE ‘‘No further applications are at present required for service in the Royal Navy,” says the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones. In re- . sponse to previous announcements many hundreds of applications were received from technicians, tradesmen, yachtsmen and others. Selections for technicians and tradesmen have already been made, and selections are now being made for yachtsmen. Applications from yachtsmen, numbered more than 500, and the vacancies at present are limited to 10, so it is not at present possible to deal with any new applications. In the event of further applications being required later, a public announcement will be made. The Navy Office staff is fully occupied dealing with candidates whose applications have already been filed, and who will shortly receive a communication about the selection.
