NGARUAWAHIA FUNCTIONS

CARNIVAL DANCE FAREWELL TO SOLDIERS The Town Hall, Ngaruawahia, presented a gay and animated scene on Thursday evening, when the committee of the Ngaruawahia Red Cross, held a grand euchre and dance. There was a large attendance of soldiers from Hopu Hopu camp, the evening also being a farewell for them before their departure to Waiouru. The hall was very attractively arranged with streamers and balloons of red, white and blue, bowls of flowers and greenery adding an attractive note. Music was supplied by Mrs Tarplett’s orchestra and extras were played by Mrs J. Holt. Mr J. Kerr was master of ceremonies. A novelty waltz was won by Miss E. Houghton and partner. ENJOYABLE DANCE An enjoyable dance under the auspices of the Ngaruawahia Church Army was held in the Parish Hall recently, when the members of the Artillery Unit at present in camp at Hopu Hopu were entertained. The novelty waltz was won by Mrs W. Cavanagh and partner. Music for the dancing was supplied by Mrs J. T. Holt and Miss M. Brennan.
