AMATEUR ACTIVITIES
“The Mikado” For Hamilton Southwell School, whose annual productions of Gilbert and Sullivan opera have become a feature of the theatrical and social life of Hamilton, has selected “The Mikado” for this season’s activities.
“The Black Eye” in Hamilton “The Black Eye,” which the drama branch of the Hamilton Operatic Society will stage at the Winter Show Hall for a season of three nights, commencing on Tuesday, March 5, is a very amusing comedy, and should draw large audiences. Excellent work is being done at rehearsals, with Mr A. E. Manning giving the benefit of his wide knowledge, and a smooth and snappy performance is assured. The Operatic Society is making a keen effort to build up its finances, and it is hoped that it will receive the well-merited support of the people of Waikato. Hamilton Performers’ Club At tonight’s meeting of the Hamilton Performers’ Club the sketch, “The Wizard of Oz,” which proved so successful a few weeks ago, will be repeated.
