ARCHBISHOP AVERILL COLLABORATORS THANKED (Sperm to Time#.) NELSON, Thursday As the Anglican General Synod which opened today is the last over which he will oreside, Archbishop Averill in his presidential address bade an official farewell to the members of all three orders, bishops, clergy and laity. r J.he Archbishop said that he was a member of the 1904 synod, «ind since 1910 he had sat in very synod as a member of the episcopal order. All the members of the bench of bishops who had taken part in his consecration in Napier Cathedral, now no more, in January, 1910, had parsed to their rest. Bishop Cecil Wilson, then of Melanesia, was the only surviving bishop who had been piesent at the 1910 synod The Archbishop referred to his 46 years’ connection with the Church of the Province of New Zealand and said that the parting gave him deep and sincere regret and he would greatly miss the fellowship he had enjoyed for so long. “I desire to thank you, bishops, clergy and laity,” he added, “for your friendship and trust, which I h*?ve valued and appreciated more than I can express. I am deeply conscious of what I have left undone in the exercise of the responsible office which you graciously conferred office which you graciously conferred upon me in 1925, and if by any word or deed I have caused any hurt to the church or to any individual member of the Church, I humbly ask pardon of God and of you, my brothers. “May God bless you and may God bless the Church of this Province, which has always been dear to me, but never dearer than it is today.”
