LIKELY TYPES ENGAGED CHANCE FOR STARBRIGHT LOCH ACRE MAY IMPROVE The field in the opening event, the Trial Stakes, contains a mass of improving talent and fancies will assume a generous range. Acreman and Starbright, both from Tutchen’s stable, have shown sufficient to indicate that both have prospects. Mandalay should be held safe by the speedy Runanga, who was backed and beaten at Matamata, and who may make early amends. Lord Ace showed definite promise at Matamata when he tired in the last little bit and slight improvement on that showing would give him a chance here. Loch Acre ran well at Rotorua where he beat all but Lady Acushla, while Rose Acre, a smart track worker, the improving Glenbevan, who shaped well in the final trials at Te Rapa yesterday, and Augment all have the necessary credentials to command respect. Lady Bambury’s form at the Waipa meeting in December held promise of an early return and she and Fliying Vixen read the pick of the remainder.
