HALF-MILE IN 51s GALLOPS AT TE AWAMUTU (By Telegraph.— Special to Times) TE AWAMUTU. Thursday The course proper, with the pegs six feet out, was open for the final gallops of Te Rapa candidates this norning, the going being fairly heavy

after recent rain. Good efforts were registered by Beau Leon, Leieke, Rose Acre and Besiege. Beau Leon finished a couple of lengths in front of Miss Ngaire over four furlongs in 51s. Beau Leon executed his work in good style. Centaurus (Murtagh) and Prince Rangi (Downing) ran six furlongs in 1.25 2-5. Prince Rangi was under V restraint all the way but Centaurus’ effort was a pleasing one for one of his class. Leieke (Lewis) dashed over four furlongs in 51s, a very smart effort. Loombination (Home) and Tutor (Goulsbro) were companions over a mile and a-quarter in 2.20, both horses working solidly. Town Survey (Pratt) and Royal Sister (Tims) after taking 15s for the first furlong, got to the end of five furlongs in 1.8. Belle Femme hit out well over three furlongs in 38s. Besiege (Pratt) and Rose Acre (Smith) finished together at the end of four furlongs in 51 3-5. Rose Acre is a novice by Acre—Wee Rose and her effort was worthy of note. Ora King (Horne) worked over seven furlongs at three-quarter pace. He looks in good trim for Saturday’* engagement. Lucidus Schooled Lucidus jumped four hurdle* in good style. He will be a starter the second day at Te Rapa. Others given useful work included Sulieman. Joan Peel, Te Takina, Hutana, Celtic Lad, Dorset and Bamboo.
