Crucible is an attractive-looking j three-vear-old by the successful sire, ; Jack Potts, from Antelope, a mare j hv Great Audubon from Penelope, bv j Rothschild from Georgina. Crucible , was bred by J. D. Smith, who prior ‘ to leasing her raced her at Hutt Park ! where she ran an encouraging third. Fruit For Country I Strong objection to the number of ! applications for licenses for delivering fruit to the country was made bv .Mr E. J. Phelan. No. 1 Licensing , Authority, at the final day of the j goods service licensing meeting in Auckland yesterday. Mr Phelan said I he would like to sec some arrangement by which the number of j vehicles could be substantially reduced. In referring to the need for i conserving supplies of benzine, Mr Phelan also pointed out that it seemed a definite waste to use large , quantities in taktng fruit to the country districts from which it originally came. All the applications were deferred.
