NORWAY ANGRY
SINKING OF A VESSEL CLEAR BREACH OF LAW United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Feb. 15, 11 a.m.) OSLO, Feb. 14 The sinking of the Snestad on February 13 has angered Norway. The newspaper Tiden Stegn says: “It is a clear breach of international law. Germany treats neutral shipping like enemy vessels.” The Seamen’s Journal suggests that the Government break off commercial negotiations with Germany. The Tiden Stegn says if Germany is not prepared to guarantee seamen’s lives it will be necessary for Norway and other countries party to the Oslo Agreement to make her understand that they are not interested in continuing trade relations.
It adds: “ If Germany continues her sea war on present principles it will be necessary for neutrals totally to revise their attitude to her.”
