AUCKLAND DISTRICT THIRD APPRAISAL, £376,058 TOTAL OF £1,078,006 FOR SEASON (By Telegraph.—Press Association) AUCKLAND, Wednesday With two more appraisals to be held, it is possible that the record cheque of £1,528,545 in 1936-37 may be exceeded. The number of bales dealt with at the third appraisal was 21.847, of a net weight of 7,761,9061 b. The average price realised for the wool was £l7 4s 3d a bale and 11.63 d a bale. TOTAL OF £1,700,000 WELLINGTON APPRAISALS (By Teleg-rapn.—press Association) WELLINGTON, Wednesday The gross proceeds of the December and January appraisements of wool in Wellington this season total nearly £1.000,000. The 20,434 bales sold in December realised £374,072 and the 33,174 bales sold in January made £621,195, a total of £995,267. For the February appraisement completed last Saturday a total of 36,700 bales was offered and, as the average price is believed to have been somewhat higher than for January, the proceeds should approximate £700,000, making a total for the three appraisements of nearly £1,700,000. SOUTH CANTERBURY AVERAGE OF £l7/5/3 A BALE (By Telegraph.—Press Association) TIMARU, Wednesday The wool cheque for the second appraisement in South Canterbury amounted to £303,060, the average a bale being £l7 5s 3d. At the second sale last season the cheque was £386,592 and the average price a bale £l2 19s 6d. This was for 29,791 bales, against 17,558 this season. There will be a further appraisement at the end of this month. EAST COAST QUANTITIES (Special to Times) GISBORNE, Wednesday It is estimated that 14,600 bales of W'ool will be offered at next week’s appraisement, to be held in Gisborne, Tokomaru Bay and Tolaga Bay, but the final figures have not yet been completed. Of the total Gisborne is expected to provide 11,500 bales Tokomaru Bay 1800, and Tolaga Bay 1300. The total of 14,600 bales compares with 15,166 bales at last month’s appraisement.
