STABLE GOSSIP
Should Improve Glenbevan was responsible for encouraging exhibitions at the recent Rotorua meeting and on the latter day, after jumping out smartly, he made the running to the straight entrance and it was only in the last hundred yards or so that he failed to go on with it. Allowing for the benefit those races at Arawa Park should effect in his condition the Musketoon three-year-old should soon register a winning bracket for the A. C. Jones’ establishment. Foxsen Looks Well Foxsen, who was responsible for an encouraging performance when she finished on attractively in the Anniversary Handicap on the latter day of the Auckland mid-summer meeting, has been shaping well in her trials at headquarters and she should lack little on the score of condition for racing at the approaching Waikato meeting.
Working Well Te Kawiti has been working attractively at Auckland in preparation for engagements at Te Rapa and the winning form of the Night Raid gelding at Ellerslie over the holidays and his more recent running at the midsummer meeting suggests he will give a solid account of his capabilities over the week-end. A well set up
type of three-year-old, he should be ] suited by the roomy Te Rapa track, j My Own Resold The brood mare, My Own, the dam I of Yours Truly, who was sold for 500 ! guineas at the National Sales, has, ' along with her filly foal by Tiderace, ; been resoldby M rT.u Mirion, l'W been resold by Mr T. Muir, of Winton, to Mr J. C. Fletcher, Auckland, who has recently established a stud in the Waikato. It will be remembered that the yearling colt from My Own realised 800 guineas j at the National Sales and, last year, another Tiderace colt from this good mare made the top price of 1450 guineas. In addition to My Own, Fletcher now has in his stud four English mares, and these he hopes . after the war to add to by further j importations. Centaurus Centaurus has been schooling in | dashing style at Te Awamutu and : promises to strip in forward condi- I tion for hurdle engagements here. It ; will be recalled that in the Orewa j Hurdles at the recent Auckland mid- j i summer meeting Centaurus put up ! | a solid performance in beating all but Knight of Australia after being well placed throughout. The class en- ; j gaged in the Frankton Hurdles this | week is not strong and Centaurus ' I looks to possess strong credentials.
