DETERMINATION OF PREMIER WOULD RISK POLITICAL LIFE ELECTION, NOT REFERENDUM (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Feb. 14, 3.15 p.m.) MELBOURNE, Feb. 14 Speaking in the Corio by-election campaign, the Federal Prime Minister, Mr Menzies, said that if he reached the stage where he thought conscription should be introduced he would not consider a referendum but would be prepared to have an election and risk his political life on it. Mr Menzies said it was against the law of the country to send men abroad without their consent. The Government did not propose to introduce conscription without an election.
