NO JERSEY OAKS
HAMILTON DECISION BREEDERS DISAPPOINTED Waikato Jersey breeders will be disappointed to know that the Hamilton Jersey Club has decided not to proceed with the proposed Waikato £SOO Jersey Oaks. Preliminary arrangements for the big competition had been completed and the various Jersey clubs of the district had signified their willingness to co-operate with the Hamilton Club in staging the event.
In an interview today, the president of the Hamilton Club, Mr D. D. Wilson, said that it had been only with the greatest regret that the club had reached the decision not to proceed with the competition. Owing to the delay in completing arrangements with the New Zealand Jersey Cattle Breeders’ Association in regard to the prize money, it had been found necessary to abandon the competition for this year. A great deal of interest and support had been forthcoming, said Mr Wilson, and it was regrettable that owing to the delayed action of the Jersey Council the club was reluctantly compelled to make this decision.
