It was decided to make a special drive in an endeavour to raise the balance of the money needed (£325) for the carrying out of the memorial work, the construction of a swimming bath in the Domain. RATE COLLECTION HIGHEST FOR MANY YEARS The rates collected by the Matamata Borough Council up to January 25, the date when the 10 per cent penalty became applicable, amounted to £6389 6s lid. or 95.3 per cent of the amount levied. £6702 2s 9d.
