ANOTHER EXPLOSION
ON WELLINGTON TRAMWAYS THIRD IN FEW DAYS (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON. Monday Another explosion, the third within a few days, beneath the wheels of a Wellington tramcar, occurred shortly before nine o’clock to-night. The tramcar, which was leaving the city for the Centennial Exhibition at Miramar, was turning from Cuba Street into Webb Street, when there was a loud explosion from under the leading wheels. Passengers and residents of the locality were alarmed by the noise. The tram was brought to a stop by the motorman within a few yards. An investigation revealed no damage and nobody was hurt. From the character of the explosion the tramway authorities believe it was caused by a detonator maliciously placed on the line. Detectives are investigating.
