THOUSANDS PAY TRIBUTE WARWICK FARM FATALITY (United Press Assn.—Elcc. Te!. Copyright) (Received Feb. 12. 3.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, Feb. 12 The death of W. Lappin, who was killed at the Warwick Farm Races, at Randwick, yesterday, cast a gloom over the Sydney racing world. Nearly 20,000 people, including almost every Sydney jockey and racing identity filed past the brer in Darlinhurst Chapel yesterday afternoon and last night. Leading racing men paid the highest tributes to Lappin’s ability and character. Other jockeys paid a tribute to him as the best apprentice in Australia.
Lapnin started riding in January, 1937. He rode 100 winners.
