Mrs K. Loyegrove, Hamilton, was a recent visitor to Auckland. Mrs R. Black, Gisborne, is spending a few days in Cambridge. Miss Jean Ferguson, Cambridge, is spending a short holiday at Te Akau. Miss Fitzpatrick, Havelock North, is visiting* Jlamilton. Mrs S. Newcombe, New Plymouth, was a recent visitor to Hamilton. Mrs C. E. Cochrane has returned from a holiday spent in Wellington. Mrs J. Fraser and Mrs R. Woollerton, Rukuhia, have returned from a holiday at the Thames Coast. Miss Valerie Cheyne has returned home to Karamu after a holiday at Waihi Beach. Mrs C. Black, Opotiki, who has been visiting her mother, Mrs H. M. Kirby, Hamilton, has left for a short visit to Waihi Beach before returning home. The Palmerston North branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union yesterday unanimously decided to donate five dozen pairs of socks to the Red Cross for the soldiers. Miss Ruth Ellison, Napier, has received word that Her Majesty, Queen Mary, has been pleased to accept a copy of her book, “Sandy and Co.”_ Miss Sophia Ginger, of Hawera, attained her 101st birthday yesterday, and celebrated it by having her birthday party at the Stratford Mountain House. Mr N. H. Rawson, of Pahiatua, formerly of Hamilton, is a grand-nephew and Miss G. Wright, of Pahiatua, is a grand-niece. Miss Ginger still retains her keen mental faculties and loves to recount her experiences of early days in the colony. She still reads avidly without the aid of glasses and is truly a wonderful example of the old pioneering stock. TIRAU Mrs James Corcoran has returned to Tirau from a visit to Okete Beach, Raglan. Mrs Chaytor, Tirau, and the Misses Linfoot, Avondale, have returned to their respective homes from a motor tour of the North Island. Mrs McKernon is visiting Hastings. Miss Dorothy Graham, who spent the school holidays in Wellington and Tauranga has resumed her teaching duties at Okoroire. Miss Beryl Gribble and Miss B. Jones, Avondale, were recent visitors to Tirau, where they were the guests of Mrs Chaytor.
Mrs W. Barker and Misses Phyllis and f\race Barker, of Tapapa, have returned from a vacation at Mount Maunganui.
