JAPANESE LOSSES CHINESE ESTIMATE (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, Feb. 9 A message from Chungking says the Chinese Army spokesman stated fnat the Chinese had evaded an attempt at encirclement and were now counter-attacking the flanks of a Japanese force of 75.000. He estimated that the Japanese casualties in the war so far are 362,000 killed and 1,087,000 wounded.
A Swedish order for aircraft has been accepted in United States. It involves a sum of 9,000,000 dollars for 144 Vultee Vanguard pursuit aeroplanes with a speed of 360 miles an hour and a wide range. Britain is reported to be negotiating for the purchase of 100 of these machines.
