BRIDGE EVENING
, PROCEEDS TO RED CROSS
In aid of Red Cross funds, a very enjoyable bridge evening was held recently at the home of the president of the society, Mrs C. G. Downes. The lounge was beautifully decorated with bowls of hydrangeas in blue and mauve and crimson gladioli.
Mrs Downes received the guests, assisted by Mrs H. C. Rainey, convener of the social circle.
Committee members present included the president, Mrs C. G. Downes, Mrs H. C. Rainey, Mrs J. Oliphant, Mrs W. Jeffery, Mrs A. R. Kay, Mrs R. Judd, Mrs L. G. Armstrong.
Noticed among the players were Mesdames R. C. Schofield, A. A. Reese, Alan Bond, Bevin, A. F. Whyte (Paterangi), S. Houston, W. D. McCurdie, J. Self, M. Dawson, W. Smith, R. C. Judd, J. O’Sullivan, J. Leggat (Hastings), Desmond Williams, Miles Otway, Potts, G. Jourdain, M. A. Heath, W. McKenzie, Luke.
Misses Hope Civil, Dorothy Moir, Stella Empson, D. Scarfe, McLeod, Cecily Montefiore, Johnson (Auckland).
